Home of the Famous Beautiful Black Pugs!

Biography of: Joyce Allen of Langley, B.C., Canada

This all started many years ago when I purchased an unwanted pug from a kennel in Richmond, B.C.,

Someone had left this registered Pug because they were going on a trip. The kennel was selling her for $25.00 and trying to find her a home. She was the start of my love affair with Pugs. My husband and children loved her dearly and she lived with us for 16 years until she crossed the rainbow bridge. I had little knowledge of Pugs at that time and she was overweight as she enjoyed peanut butter and toast for breakfast.

When she had been with us about two years I acquired another Pug that people did not want. She was a spayed female also – she lived with us for 15 years and along the way I purchased one for $5.00 that people were going to put down This one lived until 14 and I think a Boxer had visited her mother as she was taller than a Pug and had a very square nose and ears very much like a Boxer. We loved the three of them.

When the first two departed from us I decided I wanted to get a Pug that I could breed and show. After seeing an ad in the Pug Talk magazine I arranged to purchase a Pug from Texas.

So into my life came a bitch called Shiloh’s And Also Allegra. Everything was set up and the delivery date scheduled when the lady called me to say the Vet had just told her the Pug was pregnant and did I still want her. I said yes, so the bitch was sent to me already pregnant, she in turn delivered a male and female about three weeks after she arrived. Wow, what an experience my first puppies – I will never forget the thrill of delivering that first puppy.

Well – that was the start of my career with Pugs. Since that time I have delivered many puppies – shown them in both conformation and obedience and have had a male that was number one in Canada in 1994 and 1996.

This one was Am. Cdn, Ch Kailand’s Midnite Jade CD – my first black and he was very special to me. Blacks are a little different in their outlook on life – more inquisitive, impish and have a mind of there own. Now I breed mostly blacks but also have a Kailand line of fawns.

One of my blacks, Am, Cdn, Int, Ch Kailand Jordan CD visited Oregon for two months and a line has been established there with many of his offspring getting championships and in turn producing champions.
